Hi! I'm Erin

Welcome! Cicada House is the idea of new beginnings. It is about finding your wings and your song and singing loudly while the sun shines.

I am Erin Ridler. I was born and raised in California, but I found love in New Zealand. I have lived here with my Kiwi husband for over a decade. We have two children: a son (who I will refer to as the Bear) and a daughter (the Mouse). The bear is very fact oriented and the mouse, well, less so. We also have a fur baby in the shape of a lab/shepherd mix named Koda. I am certain that Koda learned to whine from listening to Bear and Mouse. Husband is my big hearted, excell loving efficiency expert and I am, well, less so. While I am big hearted, I am the dreamer and the gatherer and the lover of beauty and character.

Recently, we purchased a new home. This blog is about the changes we make to the house along with happenings in our family. It is an outlet for me to share my passion for photography, cooking, gathering, entertaining and encouraging.
